Meet the Artists

Alexandra

Owner, boss lady, artist and mother of three. Classically trained fine woodworker, bronze sculptor, and ceramic artist. After graduating from Rhode Island School of Design she honed her skills working for some of the finest craftsmen in the country including furniture makers, a third generation boatbuilder, and a bronze sculptor before returning to her first love clay. Loved and lovable.

Alexandra is a quiet and subtle force to be reckoned with. Accepting, inspiring, and encouraging. Her shop and studio have an open door policy, inviting in and attracting characters and stories of all shapes and sizes.  Memories past, present, and future. A lover of history, hand skills, and the gathering of people and good vibrations. Alexandra is the captain of an endlessly creative and inspired ship.

Shayne

Surfer, painter, sculptor, father, and child of the sea. Shayne Boyle is a fine art painter inspired by the impressionists. An international traveling free surfer, he honed his painting while living in Bali where the inspiration from natural wonder never stops. His studio is in the National Arts Club in Gramercy Park where he loves to paint the seasonal flora of the park.

He is both a naturalist and present day devotee of Gerard Hardenburgh. When he’s not surfing or working on commissioned art you can find Shayne sculpting the large vessels for Source and Tradition.

The Studio

524 Lake Ave. Bay Head, New Jersey

Nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the Barnegat Bay in the former Applegate’s Hardware store. The over 100 year old historic building is now home to Source and Tradition working studio and gallery. Lightly renovated to preserve the integrity and stories the walls of this structure have to share.  The space is filled with natural light, salty breezes from the ocean, and reflections of the sunset off the Scow Ditch directly out the back door.

The toasty kilns are firing around the clock. They are the core function and heart beat of the handmade production shop. A revival in more ways than one, the space welcomes the community in gathering to celebrate the artistry and heritage of the coastal region. Showcasing local talent and original art of all mediums and process.
