My first large shell collection was created in 2014. I was asked to make a commemorative dish for the 125th anniversary of St. Simon-by-the-Sea in Mantoloking, NJ. Built in 1889 and believed to be a copy of a Norwegian Fisherman’s Church, the structure has cedar shakes on the interior and exterior, tiffany stained glass windows, and countless carved wooden angels. I was very inspired by the stained glass and the baptismal font… a giant clamshell sourced from the original Fulton Fish Market. Since 2019 I have created shell and dinnerware collections inspired by that original clam shell from the Fulton Fish Market for The Fulton by Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten and today I am creating a new collection for the restored Tin Building. Inspiration coming full circle. I like to think I have lots of angels looking out for me… hence the name.

This hand formed porcelain seashell is a beautiful shade of opalescent pink. Optional 22k gold luster edge detail creates slight speckling and oxidation on the surface.
